Flight, Fight, Freeze, Fawn
from All The F Words · host Joanne Greene
When a zebra in the wild senses a lion is about to attack, something interesting happens: the zebra’s body, or, more specifically, its parasympathetic nervous system, takes over and does its best to help its host, the zebra, escape a detrimental fate. Without the zebra’s conscious participation, the zebra’s body decides whether fight or flight—running away—is the best move. A version of this, also known as a stress response, happens in humans too and that’s what we’re talking about on today’s episode. Follow us on social media @allthefwordspodWrite to us!
