From Dropping out of High School & Living on Food Stamps to Building an Empire | Ep.3

from The Messy Middle with Courtney Schultz · host Courtney Schultz

In this episode we talked to the owner of Carpenter Farmhouse, Niki Carpenter, about how she went from high-school drop out and living on food stamps to building a wildly successful business. Everything seemed to be stacked against Niki from the start. From having an emetophobia (extreme fear of vomiting), which lead to debilitating anxiety that ultimately caused her to drop out of high school, to having a miscarriage and then her husband missing the birth of their first born child while he was deployed in Afghanistan, to barely surviving while living on food stamps.  But she never lost her faith in Jesus. She knew He would provide for her and her family and she trusted in His plans for her life. When she could not afford to decorate her home, she began building wood signs. When she posted her creations on Facebook, she was shocked to see how many people wanted to buy them. Out of her desperation to survive, God opened the door for Carpenter Farmhouse to be born. Niki shares her journey through: - having debilitating anxiety and emetophobia (extreme fear of vomiting)  - her journey through a miscarriage - giving birth to her first born child while her husband was in combat in Afghanistan - living on food stamps and barely surviving - how God opened doors for her and her business as she followed Him and trusted in His plan
