Geoff Ulrich talks 149th Open Championship With Big D

from The Big D Podcast

In this episode, golf DFS/betting expert Geoff Ulrich and I preview this week's 149th Open Championship. First, we try and explain what led to Bryson DeChambeau and his caddy separating. Geoff believes Bryson may have needed a change to be more consistent. We then switch our attention to the Royal St. George Golf Club, which will host the 149th Open Championship. With this being the only major in Europe, we look a the unique setup of this venue. We also talk about how luck often plays a factor at this major. Royal St. George is among the worst Open venues for greens in regulation. Geoff and I both also mention the difficulty of the bunkers and how this major has led to surprise winners with Ben Curtis in 2003, Todd Hamilton in 2004, and Darren Clarke in 2011. We switch our attention to betting and our favorite DKSportsbook options. As usual, Geoff likes Louis Oosthuizen. He also likes Justin Thomas with odds over +2000. I also like Dustin Johnson's odds of +2250 looking for a hot week. We also look at Bryson and Collin Morikawa at +3500. Geoff likes Marc Leishman at +7000. Big D also likes Rickie Fowler at +8500. We switch to DFS and our favorite DraftKings plays. We both believe most DFS players will use a balanced approach and not punting anyone of six lineup spots. Right now, Jordan Spieth and Daniel Berger will be very popular. Berger's price of $7,400 amazed both of us that he was not more expensive. Finally, we make our picks for The Open. Geoff likes Marc Leishman while Big D is going with Jordan Spieth to win the Claret Jug.
