GUARDING YOUR TONGUE
from The Kingdom Of God First Podcast. · host Tewe Kolade Felix
Devotional Message: Scripture: "Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity." – Proverbs 21:23 Our words have power. With them, we can build up or tear down, bring peace or stir conflict. Proverbs 21:23 reminds us that guarding our tongue is not just wise—it’s a protective measure that shields us from unnecessary trouble and regret. Thoughtless words can cause pain, break trust, and invite consequences that could have been avoided. To guard your tongue is to speak with intention, grace, and truth. It means thinking before speaking, listening more than reacting, and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide your speech. A controlled tongue reflects a disciplined heart—one that seeks peace, honours others, and ultimately glorifies God. This kind of self-control isn’t achieved by willpower alone but by daily surrender. As we spend time in God's Word and presence, He transforms our hearts—and what fills the heart flows from the mouth. When Christ rules our hearts, our words become a fountain of wisdom and encouragement. Today, ask yourself: Are my words building others up or tearing them down? What would change if I invited God into my conversations? Prayer: Almighty Father, teach me to guard my tongue and speak with wisdom, grace, and love. Let my words reflect Your truth and bring peace rather than harm. Help me to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and always guided by Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
