Damon Runyon Theater Entertainment Radio Alfred Damon Runyon (October 4, 1880 – December 10, 1946) was an American newspaperman and short story writer. The Damon Runyon Theater radio series dramatized 52 of Runyon's short stories in weekly broadcasts running from October 1948 to September 1949 (with reruns until 1951). The series was produced by Alan Ladd's Mayfair Transcription Company for syndication to local radio stations. John Brown played the character "Broadway", who doubled as host and narrator. The cast also comprised Alan Reed, Luis Van Rooten, Joseph Du Val, Gerald Mohr, Frank Lovejoy, Herb Vigran, Sheldon Leonard, William Conrad, Jeff Chandler, Lionel Stander, Sidney Miller, Olive Deering and Joe De Santis. Pat O'Brien was initially engaged for the role of "Broadway". The original stories were adapted for the radio by Russell Hughes. "Broadway's New York had a crisis each week, though the streets had a rose-tinged aura", wrote radio historian John Dunning. "The sad shows then were all the sadder; plays like For a Outcast Of The Islands, An by Joseph Conrad (1857 - 1924) LibriVox An Outcast of the Islands is the second novel by Joseph Conrad, published in 1896, inspired by Conrad's experience as mate of a steamer, the Vigar. The novel details the undoing of Peter Willems, a disreputable, immoral man who, on the run from a scandal in Makassar, finds refuge in a hidden native village, only to betray his benefactors over lust for the tribal chief's daughter. The story features Conrad's recurring character Tom Lingard, who also appears in Almayer's Folly (1895) and The Rescue (1920), in addition to sharing other characters with those novels. This novel was adapted for the screen in 1952 by director Carol Reed, featuring Trevor Howard as Willems, Ralph Richardson as Lingard, Robert Morley, and Wendy Hiller. (Summary by Wikipedia) Daily Spark w/ the Joseph’s! Huram & Monica Joseph My wife , Monica and i (Huram) LOVE JESUS and have been through seasons of ups and downs and seen God in every single one of them even if it didn’t make sense. All we know that nothing we go through is a surprise to God. Everything we go through is for our good and His glory. It is too conform us into His image so that we go into this world as Christ bearers and that can only take place as we remain rooted and grounded in His word and in His presence. We just want to be here and speak about how the Lord has led us through our lives and how he is leading our lives today as we walk by Faith!
