If you’ve ever worried that it’s too late to build a purposeful, health conscious, soul guided life, or transform a story of addiction to one of healing and helping others, then hopefully this episode can change your story!  Tanya McBride is proof that all of this is possible, and more! Tanya  is a Native New Mexican with familial roots that run deep into New Mexican history.  She is an avid traveler, skier, hiker, camper and yogini…..her health is her wealth, in addition to the deep appreciation she has for life itself. This episode takes us through Tanya’s early years of battling toxic relationships and addictive habits, right up through her tremendous recovery, finding yoga and deciding to enter the mental health field as a clinical therapist and substance abuse counselor.  She’s now the most energetic, adventurous, in-shape 61-year-old I know, bringing her light and sparkle into every room. Key takeaways: There is no one size fits all for how to live our lives - trying to fit “the norm” or live to please others will be ineffective and ultimately toxic.  If you don’t feel ready for college at 18….do something different for a while.  Transformation is not always a linear process, because we are vulnerable humans.   Life is often a series of blossoms as we go through the process of hitting rock bottom, healing, rebuilding our lives and then dealing with a new challenge.   However, embracing healthy habits and a purposeful life/career can help sustain our state of blooming and break old cycles.  Tanya is so in love with life, a really toxic habit wouldn’t stand a chance with her these days. If that life of purpose entails helping people who are in the same situation we were once in….even better!  This is why Tanya thrives in her career in mental health, even when it gets highly stressful or challenging.  She is paying the healing forward.  Here are my social media links, including more of my writing on Substack. https://www.instagram.com/healingvoyager/ https://www.facebook.com/rebecca.schlosser.5 Private FB group:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/859832058689723 https://substack.com/@rebeccaschlosser?utm_source=profile-page   Don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast by clicking the follow button on Apple, Spotify or Google Podcasts - so you don’t miss any episodes which are released every Monday.  If something mystifies you, send me a question on social media.  And if something touches you, please leave a review and recommend the show to someone who needs to hear it! Cost, experience, time-zones, expectations - these are all barriers that will be broken. The sound barrier is just the destination. This is the journey. With over 140 students representing 65 universities in 15 countries on 5 continents, Project Boom was created with the goal of being the first student group to reach speeds in excess of Mach 1 with a jet-powered remote-controlled aircraft.
