Here There Be Dragons by John Peel

This narrative follows Captain Picard and his Starfleet crew as they investigate a mysterious stellar nebula and a detonated pleasure ship. Their journey leads them through a temporal tunnel to a medieval-like planet inhabited by humans and fierce dragons, which are being hunted by a criminal organization. The crew, disguised as traveling minstrels, encounters local power struggles and uncovers the existence of an ancient, advanced race known as the Preservers, who secretly seeded the world with the humans and dragons. Ultimately, they must destroy a Preserver device to save their ship and preserve the planet's indigenous development, leaving the locals to ponder the "magic" they witnessed.
