Higher Ego Vulnerability and Difficulty Resolving ConflictAired Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 8:00 AM PST / 11:00 AM ESTThis week on It’s Your Ego—Stupid!, Dr. Nick will be looking intensely into the mirror of our ability to resolve the small and large conflicts, arguments, and disagreements that take place in our lives. These conflicts are inevitable because we each possess an individuality that makes us unlike anyone who has ever lived, is living, or will be living. It is this uniqueness in our being, rooted in our having been formed by a unique set of life events, relationships, and experiences, that sets the stage for this inevitable conflict. One of the tasks of life is to reconcile our differences in ways that can lead to growth and learning from conflict rather than the often seen distance and destructiveness that results from conflict. Conflicts that often last far too long, being fueled by the ego energy at work to keep them unresolved. Particularly, those involving our spouse or partner, parents, children, and siblings. Unfortunately, for those with higher ego vulnerability, conflicts often become personal and attach themselves to the underlying and often unrecognized issues in accepting the weaknesses and imperfections of their humanity. Consequently, conflicts become personalized and often drift from the surface issues that began the conflict to needs of the higher vulnerability person to keep distance from their hidden issues. Great examples of this are when people frequently fight over petty or stupid stuff or engage in inappropriate attacks, when they are “losing” in the conflict taking place. Their higher ego vulnerability energy leads them to engage in more destructive rather than constructive arguments, because the issue precipitating the conflict isn’t the real focus anymore. Roles they may find their way into living, until they awaken to their ego energy, include the High-Maintenance Partner, the Overachiever, and the Perfectionist.During the show I’ll be looking at symptoms, reflections of ego stupidity, and the impact on spiritual wellness which occurs when a person is being affected by higher ego vulnerability energy in their ability to work through and resolve conflicts.
