Highly Recognized Third-Generation Professional Animal Caretaker, Trainer, and Consultant and Podcaster - Heidi Herriott

from The KORE Women Podcast · host Summer Watson, PhD

This week on the show Dr. Summer Watson welcomes Heidi Herriott, who is a third-generation animal owner, trainer, and committed caretaker. Her parents were well respected animal trainers. Heidi has traveled throughout North America exhibiting her beautifully trained horses and dogs. She also enjoys hosting clinics specifically highlighting effective and universally recognized dog and horse training techniques. Heidi served as the Head Trainer and/or animal consultant for various venues such as the Tournament of Kings Show at Excalibur in Las Vegas and Walt Disney World Co in Florida. She has been featured on multiple radio programs and tv shows, such as iHeart Radio, Good Morning America, MSNBC, and on Animal Planet’s Pet Star; America’s Got Talent; Walt Disney, Nickelodeon Studios and more! Heidi is proud of her heritage as a third-generation animal owner, trainer, and committed caretaker. Her parents were well respected animal trainers. Her mother specialized in dogs, minis, ponies and horses, while her father was internationally acclaimed for training camels, llamas, zebra, horses, elephants, and more. Heidi likes to describe her dad as a veritable Dr. Doolittle who really did "talk to the animals." She and her three sisters were always a part of the animal training process, and also the care. Animals were part of their family. Her parents and grandfather utilized a very common-sense approach to animal care and training, which she feels is the cornerstone (and uniqueness) of her training methods today. John and Mary Ruth Herriott both passed away in 2015, but their legacy endures with Heidi, her sisters, and many nieces and nephews who still work with and care for animals.
