Ella está de acuerdo en que fue muy afortunada por haber sobrevivido. En su ciudad, de tres millones de habitantes, 200.000 personas murieron bajo el fuego alemán y cerca de 630.000, de frío o hambre. Increíblemente los rusos, no sólo sobrevivieron, sino que consiguieron derrotar a los alemanes.
