How is NFP Different from Contraception? (The Patrick Madrid Show)

Is using NFP allowed by the Church? Joel from WI asks about natural family planning and whether it can cause couples to have a "contraceptive mentality." Patrick Madrid explains that the Church allows NFP and that it is not sinful. He adds that with NFP, there is still a physical openness to life and that's what matters. Joel explains that he believes couples should always be mentally and emotionally open to life. Patrick responds by saying that as long as couples are physically open to the possibility of children, the Church allows couples to practice NFP when they have discerned it to be the responsible thing to do.
