The Burial of the Guns Thomas Nelson Page The Burial of the Guns is a collection of short stories, including one of the same name. Author and one time US Ambassador to Italy, Thomas Nelson Page, offers these stories. Page popularizes the 'plantation tradition' genre of Southern writing, which told of an idealized version of life before the Civil War, with contented slaves working for beloved masters and their families. Who Is the Man of the Shroud? Is it the authentic burial shroud of Jesus Christ? The series is brought to you by Shroud scholars Fr. Peter Mangum, Rector of the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans in Shreveport, LA, and Dr. Cheryl White, history professor at Louisiana State University-Shreveport. Both Fr. Mangum and Dr. White are members of the American Confraternity of the Holy Shroud – the only authorized affiliate of the Archconfraternity of Turin, curators of the Shroud since 1597. Religio Medici and Hydriotaphia by Thomas Browne (1605 - 1682) LibriVox Religio Medici (The Religion of a Doctor) sets out Sir Thomas Browne's spiritual testament as well as being an early psychological self-portrait. In its day, the book was a European best-seller. It was published in 1643 by the newly-qualified physician, and its unorthodox views placed it swiftly upon the Papal Index Librorum Prohibitorum in 1645. Although predominantly concerned with Christian faith, the Religio also meanders into digressions upon alchemy, hermetic philosophy, astrology, and physiognomy.Hydriotaphia, Urn Burial, or a Discourse of the Sepulchral Urns lately found in Norfolk, was published in 1658. Its nominal subject was the discovery of a Roman urn burial in Norfolk. The discovery of these remains prompts Browne to deliver, first, a careful description of the antiquities found, and then a careful survey of most of the burial and funerary customs, ancient and current, of which his era was aware. The most famous part of the work, though, is the fifth chapter, Basic Gospel : Just a Minute! Bob Christopher The Gospel of Jesus Christ is simple, powerful, and life changing. It declares the love of God for mankind. It is the good news people long to hear. Radio delivers it straight to the heart. But it is not enough just to hear the good news. God wants to make His love a reality in our lives. He wants us to believe it and live it. At Basic Gospel, we are dedicated to proclaiming the name of Jesus Christ and the profound simplicity of His love and grace. Our hope is that the clear presentation of the Basic Gospel and the singular focus on the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ will anchor listeners to the love of God and will encourage them to experience the fullness of the New Covenant life that is theirs in Christ.
