Join us today on another episode of How to Korea, the best podcast in South Korea, where we tell you what it takes to live in South Korea. In today's episode, we have quite the variety of stories. We talk about putting your business listing up on Naver Places, and some answers and experiences regarding Naver blogs and scam callers. We then divert straight into the topic of the Shincheonji Church, and the controversy they had during the COVID-19 outbreak. We also talk about Jehova's Witnesses and their role in South Korea, and a little bit about their religion based on our personal knowledge and experience. Then, we discuss the monitor-state of China and the presence of the social credit score that is being reinforced in China currently, and the surveillance technology of South Korea and how everything you do (almost everything) is monitored very closely, so smile for the camera! Given the nature of the topics that we discuss, we proceed to talk about superstitions and shamanism in South Korea, and some of the strange foods that we've tasted and experienced here. Naturally, we transition to a ghost story from Ian and an experience with God with James and how some of these instances and supernatural experiences may link with night terrors. A final comment to leave you with, is "Don't take candy from strangers" and it seems to apply moreso to adults (especially women in South Korea) than children. Be careful what you accept from strangers in South Korea! If you've liked this episode, please leave a comment and subscribe so that you can be notified when our next episode is live! Cup of Stars Scout “Insist on your cup of stars.” Here I am, finding my cup of stars. How do you conquer your demons while figuring out how to be your own mother and find your inner child? This is for documenting my path through self-healing, connecting to the Korean parts of me, and let’s be honest; there will be ramblings of who even knows what. Explicit Two for Space Jam, Please Cheryl Quimba and Joe Hall Joe Hall and Cheryl Quimba watch movies then say things about those movies. They have strong feelings about Todd Haynes, Korean horror, class warfare, and how not to make a twenty-first century rom com. They're basically Siskel and Ebert, but with nothing to lose. Explicit Confidently Insecure Jei So & Lauren Abramsky A Korean and a Jew met at a university media club and can’t shut the f*ck up about how difficult their average lives are after graduation. Too often shoved aside for being "snowflake" millennials, our hosts open up the dialogue and empower others to become more confident in their insecurities. Explicit Same Building Different Views Nick Meyer, Shreeman Misurya, & Robert Chandler Made by post-grads & college kids for post-grads & college kids: Same Building Different Views offers a little bit of everything. Each episode generally consists of a big story, such as the time Shreeman was almost arrested in North Korea or how Nick built a YouTube channel that grossed thousands of dollars while in high school, and segments such as "Current events you can mention to your boss/friends to make you seem informed", "Beard Talk", "Shark Tank", "Wolf of the Week", "Office Power Moves", and "Office Trap Song of the Week".
