This week’s question is: What do you think district and building leaders should be watching for in tech in the upcoming school year? How should leaders address professional development this year in regards to technology integration? Weekly Topic Why is it important to work with your administrator, especially at the beginning of the school year? Coaches are put in school buildings to support teachers in meeting both district and building goals. They are not “spies for the administration” rather they are “certified support professionals” and “content specialists” designed to help classroom teachers develop and deliver dynamic curricular activities to help students meet their standards. How should you approach your principal at the beginning of the school year? Set up a time to meet before the school year starts. Have a meeting set at least twice a month if not weekly to keep in touch of what is happening in the classrooms. When should you approach your principal at the beginning of the school year? Often After the first few days have passed Before the first major staff meeting to set up an opportunity to work with teachers Should building leaders be focused on “Tech”? No – Building leaders should be focused on standards and how students are meting them. Building leaders should be focused on how their students are meeting the standards and how teachers are creating lessons to meet those standards THROUGH the use of digital learning...
