El College Freedom Forum es una iniciativa de Human Rights Foundation (HRF), organización que promueve la defensa de los derechos humanos alrededor del mundo. Está es la quinta edición del evento realizado en la  Universidad Francisco Marroquín en la que activistas de diferentes países llegan a presentar su historia y cómo ha sido su lucha por la libertad.  El director legal de la fundación, Javier El-Hage, da la bienvenida al evento mencionando algunos datos del impacto que ha tenido la fundación y su punto de enfoque. También, introduce los países, continentes y regímenes políticos de los conferencistas que se presentarán en este evento. Además de la libertad política, menciona la importancia de la libertad económica y su relación con los derechos políticos, dando ejemplos de algunos países que han sido fuertemente afectados por esta falta de libertad.  Javier El-Hage menciona el caso de China, los cambios por los que ha pasado este país, y las consecuencias que sufren los habitantes de esa región por haber limitado la libertad. Finalmente, invita al público a disfrutar del evento y las diferentes experiencias que se compartirán.
