Inspiring Environmental Action & Community Building

from Unified Purpose · host Penji

Three things you’ll learn in this episode:Shifting from Environmental Apathy to Action: Ideas for Us was founded to counter the "doom and gloom" environmental narrative that can lead to apathy, especially among young people. The organization focuses on direct environmental action in five key areas: energy, water, food, waste, and ecology, empowering communities to implement solutions rather than just focusing on problems.Community-Driven Solutions for Global Problems: The podcast highlights the importance of local action, such as trash cleanups, community gardens, and building essential infrastructure like latrines, as effective ways to foster a sense of ownership and inspire positive change within communities, even in resource-limited regions. The Power of Optimism and Grassroots Effort: Clayton emphasizes that overcoming global challenges requires a shift from a nihilistic mindset to one of proactive engagement. He encourages individuals, especially young people, to identify local causes they are passionate about and "work their ass off on it," believing that sustained grassroots efforts can lead to significant and lasting positive impact.About Clayton and Ideas for us:Website: https://ideasforus.org/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/claytonlouisferrara/✨Sponsors✨Penji, the human first creative subscription service for agencies and teams.Enter code for 15% off your first month: UNIFIEDPURPOSE15 Penji's WebsiteSubscribe to Penji’s YouTube Channel

Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
