In this episode of the HET Podcast, our host Dr. F Scott Feil introduces our new co-hosts, Dr. Dawn Brown, Dr. Lonnie Stewart, and Farley Schweighart. Biography: Dawn S. Brown PT, DPT is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Education at Northern Illinois University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, with over 21 years of clinical and educational experience. She completed a Bachelor of Psychology degree and Master of Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University, a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Alabama State University, and is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Education (EdD) Program in Higher Education Administration at Northern Illinois University. She earned ABPTS certification in orthopaedic physical therapy, and uses this content expertise in her teaching, clinical practice, scholarship, and service activities. Her research interests include recruitment and retention of underrepresented minority students and faculty in physical therapy programs, transformative leadership in physical therapy and higher education, and attitudes towards social responsibility among physical therapy students and professionals. Dr. Brown is an active member of the Illinois Physical Therapy Association serving as former Chapter Nominating Committee Chair, former Chair of the Diversity Task Force, and current district Assembly Representative. She is a founding member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Consortium for the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT).   Farley Schweighart, PT is the Western Performance industry’s leading physical therapist who helps riders and their horses heal from injury, improve performance and return to winning. She founded rider’s Edge Therapy & Wellness because of her frustration that the horse and rider team weren’t being addressed. Her love for improving the well being and performance of both horse and rider drives her everyday. She works as a Director of Clinical Education for the PTA Program at Arkansas State University. Lonnie Stewart, PT, DPT, GCS is an experienced physical therapist, clinical educator, non-profit leader, Ph.D. candidate, and board-certified geriatric specialist.
