My guest today is Joél Simone, also known as The Grave Woman. Joél is the founder of the Multicultural Death and Grief Care Academy, an organization that empowers professionals with the tools to create authentic, culturally inclusive experiences that honor diversity and inclusion at the end of life, after death and through grief support. Joél is a celebrity within the death and funeral space and tours the country, regularly speaking at all the major death and funeral-related industry events. We talk about her time as an embalmer and the reverence and care she brought to that role. We also get into some of the courses that her academy provides, such as Locs and Twist- a class for death care professionals that offers essential techniques for properly cleansing and caring for the locs and twisted hairstyles of Black descendants. Bowie Book Club Podcast Greg Miller & Kristianne Huntsberger Two friends have had a book club for a very very long time. It was mostly an excuse to drink and gossip. In January of 2016, they found renewed purpose in their sadness over the death of David Bowie. They decided to stop mucking around and actually get some reading done - from the list of books that he loved. Explicit Hello Life WTF Perry & Lindsay Johnson Join Perry and Lindsay Johnson for a fun look at #parenting #relationships #marriage #death #health and all the #WTF that comes with it. We are real people with real struggles and we hold very little back. If you like fun and authentic real life then come give us a listen. We release on Fridays(mostly) and can't wait to get to know you and for you to get to know us. Explicit Ffs Don't Toggle Maps Holly Hodgson-Simmons I made a gaming podcast. There's expletives and yelling. However, it mostly also consists of talking incessantly about games I love (past and present), buzzing over upcoming releases, yelling about accidental deaths and button smashing. Above all- it's about fun. And lots of it. I will be joined by guests discussing everything from Mario to Metal Gear, free to play to needing to remortgage to play any Blizzard game. Shit talking and high praise guaranteed in unequal measure. Explicit There's Sometimes a Buggy Elise Moore and Dave Join Dave and Elise every week for a buggy-ride of cinematic exploration. A bilingual Montreal native and a Prairies hayseed gravitate to Toronto for the film culture, meet on OK Cupid, and spur on each other's movie-love, culminating in this podcast. Expect in-depth discussion of their old favourites (mostly studio-era Hollywood) and their latest frontiers (courtesy of the TIFF Cinematheque and various Toronto rep houses and festivals). The podcast will be comprised of several potentially never-ending series:- Fear & Moviegoing in Toronto: Our Perspectives on Choice Local Retrospectives- Hollywood Studios – Year by Year: Deep-cut dishing on Paramount, MGM, Warner Brothers, RKO, Fox, and Universal items from 1930 to 1948.- Acteurist oeuvre-views of worthy on-camera creatives, beginning with Jennifer Jones and Setsuko Hara.- And a big parade of special subjects hand-chosen by whichever of your hosts happens to have a handle on this buggy that week Explicit
