One of the most well-known stories in all of biblical literature is also on many levels one of the least credible. It's found among the books of prophecy, but it has little to do with the themes and messages conveyed by the rest of the prophetic class. Nor does it touch the enduring themes of social justice that are the hallmark of Israel's prophets. The one commonality Jonah has with other prophets is his reluctance to take the job. Rushdoony When this brilliant and prophetic book was first published in 1961, the Christian homeschool movement was years away and even Christian day schools were hardly considered a viable educational alternative.
