June 1 – Genesis 24:29-49

This passage of scripture reminds us of the servant praying specifically and urgently.  He recognized his prayer was answered before he even finished praying.  He then takes time to give thanks to the Lord God.  How often do we pray with great anticipation, laying our specific requests at the feet of our Heavenly Father?  When the prayer is answered, some might think it’s a coincidence, while in fact it is a direct and immediate answer to our prayer.   Thank You Lord for answering prayer.  What did Rebekah’s brother, Laban, immediately notice upon seeing Abraham’s servant and Rebekah? What was indicated by his observation? What was the servant’s prayer? Why was the servant treated with such hospitality? Abraham had given specific instructions that Isaac’s wife not be a Canaanite, but the from Abraham’s father’s land and his clan.  Why was this so important? How did Abraham reassure the servant’s uncertainties regarding the success of his task?
