Südostasien hatte es in diesem Jahr nicht leicht: Erst Corona, dann die heftigste Taifun-Saison seit Jahrzehnten. Vietnam gehört mit seiner langen Küste zu den am heftigsten vom Klimawandel betroffenen Ländern der Welt. In diesem Herbst traf ein Wirbelsturm nach dem nächsten auf die vietnamesischen Küsten, vor allem in Zentralvietnam. Dort ist von einer Jahrhundertflut die Rede, zudem gab es zahlreiche Erdrutsche, über hundert Menschen starben. Als wäre das nicht erschreckend genug, dürften die Extremwetter dieses Jahr nur der Anfang sein. Zu dem Thema haben zwei Expertinnen aus Vietnam gesprochen: Nguyễn Thị Tâm Phương war für den Frankfurter Hilfsverein “Chance to grow” aus Saigon ins Krisengebiet gereist und teilte mit uns ihre Eindrücke; und Nguyễn Thị Yến ordnete das Geschehen aus einer klimapolitischen Perspektive ein. Sie arbeitet in Hanoi als Referentin für Klimawandel und Katastrophenschutz bei CARE International.
