One two three four five six seven ocho NINE... This year, we had NINE local high school tennis players win state championships at the MHSAA and MAIS state tournaments. Four from Brookhaven High School — Crews and Annie Stewart, (5A Mixed Doubles); and Addy Foster and Jenna Townsend (5A Girls Doubles). Two from Loyd Star — Cooper Creel and Brody Thinadeaux (Class 1 Boys Doubles). Two from Brookhaven Academy — Camille Calcote and Kyndra Quinn (4A D2 Girls Doubles). And one from Parklane Academy — Anistyn Henderson (4A D2 Girls Singles). We talk to them ALL, along with Ole Brook coach Becky Green, BA coach Holli Pepper and Loyd Star coaches Scott and Denise Leggett. Is Southwest Mississippi the next tennis powerhouse region?
