Let's Read! - Ep. 1: "The Family Next Door" (Prologue, Chapters 1 - 2)

from A Slice of Ham · host Casey Hamilton

Well, look at what we have here! A bonus!  A lot of people throughout my life have told me that I have a great reading voice, so I figured I would give something new a shot and start a little podcast Book Club! The first book I chose to read is a true-crime whirlwind, a book by the title of "The Family Next Door: The Heartbreaking Imprisonment of the Thirteen Turpin SIblings and Their Extraordinary Rescue" by investigative journalist John Glatt. If you've never heard of the Turpin abuse case, it is one of the most horrific cases of child abuse ever uncovered in the history of the United States. David and Louise are, decidedly, not very good people.  If this book is too heavy, let me know! I'm always open to suggestions as to what to read and when to read it. I only picked the book because I had it on hand, and it was the most accessible. If this is a case you're interested in doing a MEGA-DEEP dive on, then we can continue until we finish the whole damn thing! That's the beauty of this podcast world - it's up to us! Let me know what you think! Welcome to the Monday Night Book Club!
