LISTENING FOR GOD’S VOICE!
from The Kingdom Of God First Podcast. · host Tewe Kolade Felix
Scripture: "After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper." — 1 Kings 19:12 (NIV) Message: God often speaks in ways we least expect. In 1 Kings 19, Elijah was discouraged and desperate to hear from the Lord. He witnessed powerful displays—wind, earthquake, and fire—but God was not in those dramatic events. Instead, He spoke through a gentle whisper. In a noisy world filled with distractions, it’s easy to overlook the quiet ways God communicates. We often search for big signs or emotional highs, but God invites us to slow down, be still, and listen closely. His voice is most clearly heard when we quiet our hearts and tune in through prayer, meditation on His Word, and moments of solitude. Listening to God requires intentional stillness. It’s in the calm moments of surrender that we sense His guidance, reassurance, and love. God is always speaking, but are we truly listening? Today, ask yourself: Am I making space in my life to hear God’s whisper? Have I been too focused on the noise that I’ve missed His gentle voice? Prayer: Almighty Father, teach me to be still before You. Help me to silence the distractions around and within me so I can hear Your gentle whisper. Speak to my heart, guide my steps, and help me follow Your voice with faith and trust. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
