On January 24th, Brazil’s former president Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva was convicted to twelve years in prison by an appealing court in a corruption and money laundering case, as part of the complex car wash investigation that has been going on for almost four years and has reached to hundreds of politicians and business-people in the country. This can influence the outcome of the country’s presidential elections in October, since Lula is the candidate leading the polls.
