Dave’s guest Sue Rosenstock is the Leader of the Team of Champions for umttr, (you matter) a community of young adults leading a movement to change the story from bullying, depression and suicide to a positive and compassionate culture where every person matters. Sue is also the mother of Evan Rosenstock……About Evan: On May 20, 2013, Churchill High School (MD) sophomore and varsity athlete, Evan Rosenstock, took his own life as a result of depression, triggered by a basketball injury, leaving the entire Churchill community shocked and saddened. To prevent other student athletes from ever feeling alone or desperate, a group of Churchill students, along with the Rosenstock family, have created umttr. Their mission is to foster a community of students who know that they matter•How to build a community of resilience that will bring messages of hope, help, and strength to our youth•The importance of teaching young adults to Take Care, Check In, Engage & Relax•5 Healthy Habits for Emotional Well-being•How to communicate, educate, and motivate people to learn the 5 signs of emotional suffering – personality changes, agitation, withdrawal, poor self-care, and hopelessness •How umttr and NAMI-MC put the ONLY evidence-based, proven effective, peer-led suicide prevention program, Sources of Strength, into 11 schools
