Manifesting with Meg & Annie McDonnell- Ep 109 Master the Beauty of Doing Nothing

from Manifesting with Meg: Conversations with Extraordinary People · host Meg Nocero

Annie is the Author of “Annie’s Song: Dandelion, Dreams & Dogs,”, Book Reviewer, Author Interviewer, Teacher, Author Consultant, and Blogger at The Write Review & Co-Owner of World of the Write Review Book Club. Annie McDonnell is one of those rare people who always look for the rainbow in the storm's wake and uses her brokenness to help others by giving her heart to innumerable causes and being candid about what she's going through in the hope that her honesty will give solace to kindred spirits. Thirsty for love, Annie breaks herself open at points only to learn the hard lesson that sometimes the love she seeks won't ever come. Your heart will warm when you see her take on life. You will laugh, cry, and be moved. In this shimmering debut-a cross-genre blend of memoir, auto-fiction, magical realism, and poetry-Annie pours out her dreams, her loves, and her hopes along with her complicated grief compounded by betrayals, medical misdiagnoses, and innumerable losses that would break most people. Her determination to live a life of love, joy, and meaning despite her great suffering shines throughout the dark themes of many of her essays and poems. Annie, who is in the end stages of Stiff Person Syndrome and has several other rare diseases, writes with raw emotion about traumas from her childhood best friend's rape and murder to her own life-altering car accident at age 19 to her decades-long odyssey through a medical system where women's symptoms are frequently dismissed, misdiagnosed, and minimized. Annie's experiential memoir, for which she's provided QR codes linking to her favorite songs throughout, allows the reader to get a hint of what it's like living suspended between this earthly existence and the afterlife. This is her love song to trauma survivors, dog lovers, and love seekers. She lives each day and night knowing that her next breath could be her last and keeps her heart focused on heaven.  Show notes:  00:02:14 Introduction of Annie McDonnell  00:04:57 Master the Beauty of Doing Nothing  00:06:33 Take Your Siesta  00:07:02 The Hardest Part of Being an Author  00:07:49 Biggest Takeaway  00:08:03 Love of Annie's Song  00:09:26 Magic of the Dandelion  00:11:20 Annie's Journey  00:12:37 Importance of Music  00:15:47 Dealing with 5 Senses  00:18:21 There is only one happiness in life- to love and be loved  00:24:15 We will know them by their love. 00:26:02 You're born to shimmer. . .  00:30:45 Magic Happens when you don't give up 00:33:39 All about books  00:36:00 The process of telling your story- Shout out to Mr. Book 00:43:31 Bonnie!  00:44:02 Stiff Person's Disease  00:48:53 Annie's Laugh  00:52:43 MGTB - Set an Example!  00:54:02 Annie's Inspiration  Connect with Annie on IG @mchorsky and www.thewritereview.com  Conversations with Extraordinary People is a YouTube/podcast based on The Magical Guide to Bliss.
