Michigan vs Penn State Early Preview + Deep Analysis | College Football 2023

from College Football with Sam · host Samuel Recker

Michigan vs Penn State is no doubt College Football's biggest game of the week. In this video, I provide a deep analysis of both the Michigan Wolverines and the Penn State Nittany Lions, discussing their strengths, weaknesses, identity, and what we know about them entering this Top 10 matchup. Michigan is the most efficient team in the country according to ESPN Analytics, and they are also No.1 in Bill Connelly's S&P+, my Potential Power Rankings, @CollegeFootballNerds Power Rankings, and they are No.2 in FPI and the AP and Coaches Poll. If Michigan Football was beating good teams by 34.0 points per game, we all would agree they are the best team in the country. However, Michigan has not faced a team currently ranked in the Top 25 and so far their best opponent is a 6-3 (3-3) Rutgers. Penn State's strength of schedule isn't much better either, despite facing Ohio State. The Nittany Lions' next toughest opponent in the Big Ten that they have faced is a 7-2 (4-2) Iowa. Penn State's defense is only allowing 1.8 yards per carry, and their special teams are among the best in the country right now. James Franklin is not known for winning big games, but he is 2-2 vs Jim Harbaugh in Beaver Stadium and this Michigan team has yet to be tested. I think the winner of this game will be the team that has the best overall defense and the most physical team. Make sure to comment so I can interact with you and answer any questions you have!
