On October 21, 2022, Riverside police responded to a hospital where a 20-year-old man had been shot multiple times. The investigation revealed that this was a murder-for-hire plot orchestrated by Samuel Pasillas, a 47-year-old pastor from Victorville. Pasillas allegedly paid the hitmen to carry out the shooting because he disapproved of his daughter's relationship. The victim survived and provided crucial information to the police, leading to the arrest of Pasillas and his accomplice, Juan Manuel Cebreros. Both men were charged with multiple offenses, including attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
