The concept was considered risky at the beginning. There were fears that it could be compared unfavourably to Rightmove, but Jonathan’s persistence has paid off. Crystallising the idea has led to a wider understanding of its aims, plus the extensive work on the design has set it apart from competitors. Which tools did Jonathan use to grow the business? Jonathan found that events, social media and networking all counted as valuable tools in aiding organic growth. Word of mouth has also been a key driver in growth, which he counts as a particular success, because it means his business objectives have been clearly defined. Social media. The growth of social media as a marketing tool has allowed Truffull to attract more of an international subscriber base. The importance of this channel cannot be overstated. Dealing with “silly offers”. Jonathan insists that all offers must, of course, be put to the client, no matter his own opinion of them. The decision must always rest with the client. Be professional. Treat everyone with respect. Information Upon Offer. It is always better, when making an offer on a property, to give as much detail as possible as to why you are offering the amount you’re offering. It will help the agent to understand and maybe even consider, an offer they may have previously dismissed. Tips for sale. Jonathan identifies the state of properties as one of the key factors in why it may not be selling as per the client’s wishes. He suggests that investing in making the property attractive can boost interest and help the client to meet their goals for sale. Rapport. Rapport in business is key to growing one’s own identity, and to fostering healthy, productive working relationships. Communication, information and consistency are the key attributes that will keep you in good standing. Valuing. There is a great difference between residential and commercial valuation. Jonathan’s approach is to look at not just the yield, but the location which he considers equally as important. Location.
