Criminal charge diversion is a growing approach to giving individuals struggling with addiction the chance to opt for treatment rather than legal punishment. This has been shown to be effective in reducing recidivism and overdose death. Thresholds is one of the oldest mental health clinics in Illinois, and Jeff Gilbert & Ann Brekke are Directors of a groundbreaking program that helps those who have been arrested to be given the option of treatment in lieu of receiving a criminal charge. An individual treatment plan is then designed, within a Harm Reduction approach.
