Nebraska vs Illinois Preview + Prediction | College Football 2023

Nebraska Football and Illinois Football are battling it out on Friday night for their last chance at redeeming their season. While, technically, each team could lose and still reach bowl eligibility, I think that is rather unlikely. Both teams are coming off of embarrassing losses in Week 5. Nebraska lost to Michigan 7-45 and Illinois lost to Purdue 19-44. Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer has struggled all season long, throwing for 5 touchdowns and 7 interceptions, and while Nebraska is starting Heinrich Haarberg, Jeff Sims could start again at any moment and he has had turnover problems in 2023 and before at Georgia Tech. Both offensive lines are suspect and the running back rooms are suffering from injury as well. My prediction for this game is that Nebraska will win by two scores, 31-20. Not only does Nebraska Football have the superior team, in my humble opinion, but I believe they will also have more motivation than Illinois. The Fighting Illini have looked sluggish all season, while the Cornhuskers at times looked just a few steps away from being a competent football team.
