Optimal Breath, Nasal Breathing & Why Carbon Dioxide is Beneficial w/ Patrick McKeown

from The Energy Code · host Dr. Mike Belkowski

On this week's episode of The Red Light Report, I had the honor of sitting down with someone that is considered the top breath expert in the world, Patrick McKeown. During our conversation, Patrick filled me in on the many amazing -- and, sadly, forgotten -- benefits of nasal breathing, how to properly breath, the negative impacts of mouth breathing, why carbon dioxide is actually beneficial and necessary to our physiology and so much more!   Patrick McKeown was a chronic asthmatic for most of his life. When he applied the buteyko breathing method, he freed himself from his asthma condition. As a qualified Buteyko practitioner, he is now just one of a few Western experts accredited and authorised by Prof Konstantin Buteyko to teach this method. His three clinics – Asthma Care – are in Dublin, Galway, and Cork.  International best-selling author of The Oxygen Advantage and creator and master instructor of the Oxygen Advantage technique, Patrick McKeown is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading breathing re-education experts. Whether you’re a weekend warrior or an Olympic athlete, Patrick’s methods provide a fast, simple, scientific and certain way to revolutionize your sports performance and improve your daily wellbeing and health. Over the past two decades, Patrick has trained thousands of people around the world to safely challenge their bodies and produce positive changes through breathing re-education. He teaches a new way to breathe, combined with specific exercises designed to improve blood chemistry. The result is an increase of oxygen flow to all the body’s systems, meaning greater endurance, strength and power.  Patrick has also released two books this year: Atomic Focus and The Breathing Cure. - Dr. Mike Belkowski & Patrick discuss the following: His history with breathing and how he became an expert in the area How breathing techniques helped his asthma Nasal breathing, its history, & its impact on your health How lung capacity is an indicator of life expectancy Mouth breathing and its negative health ramifications The impact of breathing patterns on sleep and mental health How mouth breathing is synonymous with emergency and fight or flight How mouth breathing leads to brain developmental issues in children How to be more aware of your breathing habits A simple exercise that can improve your blood flow How to optimize oxygen and carbon dioxide Light, slow, and deep - the right way to breathe How to optimize breathing for athletic training Breathing exercises for kids CPAP machines for sleep apnea Improving air quality in your home - Watch this episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/K0XWQLo_HqM - Visit Patrick's websites: Buteykoclinic.com Oxygenadvantage.com   Instagram @oxygenadvantage and @buteykoclinic   Youtube @oxyathlete and @buteykoclinic   Check out Patrick's books on Amazon: The Breathing Cure / / Develop New Habits for a Healthier, Happier, and Longer Life The Oxygen Advantage / / Simple, Scientifically Proven Breathing Techniques to Help You Become Healthier, Slimmer, Faster, and Fitter Atomic Focus / / Harness the True Power of Your Brain, Develop Resilience Against Stress, and Get Focused with Simple Breathing Exercises to Change Your Mental and Physical State - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit www.biolight.shop Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube Facebook
