Overcoming Trauma And Anxiety With Gemma Margerison

from The Relationship Guy

John Speaks to Gemma Margerison, Staff Development and Corporate Trainer, Coach, Speaker, Author and Trauma and PTSD support advocate.  With almost a decade of experience researching and working in wellbeing and resilience, including 3 years delivering training for BAE Systems, Gemma works with staff in public and private organisations to increase their resilience, self-care, inner strength, and confidence to reduce burnout and increase self-empowerment through her business Connected. John and Gemma discuss how her organisation, Connected, helps individuals and workforces develop resilience and teaches wellbeing, her book ‘Connected’ and how and why it was written and her own journey with anxiety and how she overcame it.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Connected provides one to one coaching focusing on resilience, and also delivering corporate training to help workforces move away from ‘bounce back’ thinking of recovery towards a proactive and preventative tool.  The book, ‘Connected’, was developed as part of Gemma's doctorate in coaching and mentoring. Within the book are twelve areas that are an expansion on the four spheres of connection which we need to live a holistically healthy life. These are connection to ourselves, connection to others, connection to the world around us and connection to a sense of purpose.  The book is filled with advice and guidance from different wellbeing and coaching experts in all different areas of expertise along with their contact details to provide further access to their skills if required. During Covid much of the coaching field switched to online, but a good proportion of clients now feel more comfortable with this method so it endures. Gemma has suffered anxiety in her past and coached herself out of it by reengaging with herself and setting goals to break her anxieties.  Self care is a part of taking care of everybody else as you cannot bring your best self to a situation if you are tired and broken. If you want to help as many people as you can, you need to be in a good space.    BEST MOMENTS ‘I do training for groups of all shapes and sizes and this helped us to win our brand's Health Hero award earlier this year based on the feedback that we got from that training.’ - Gemma ‘That’s where I shifted over the last couple of years with coaching as well. Its prevention rather than cure kind of space.’ – John ‘While a good coach can coach you on anything I think, probably, an even better coach is one of those who could at least signpost you to people who specialise in different areas.’ – Gemma ‘This has, kind of, driven me to step into that spotlight a little bit purely as a means of helping others. It's not something that comes particularly naturally to me, I’m perfectly fine with public speaking, but when it comes to the social media side, the slightly more vulnerable side of it and sharing parts of who I am, it's something that I haven’t found particularly easy.’ – Gemma   GUEST RESOURCES Email [email protected]   Website  https://iamconnected.co.uk/   VALUABLE RESOURCES To get in touch - email –  [email protected]  or book a complimentary call –  https://calendly.com/johnkennycoaching/30min If people want to order a copy of the book then they can just pay postage of £4.95 (RRP £8.99) - www.johnkennycoaching.com/podcast-book-offer Want to be able to address the relationship issues in your life? - Why not book in for a complimentary call and we can discuss how you can get the new started with some new types of relationships - https://calendly.com/johnkennycoaching/30min The Relationship Guy Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/the-relationship-guy           ABOUT THE HOST I am John Kenny, The Relationship Guy - Coaching people to experience healthy loving relationships.  Having spent a life choosing unhealthy relationships and self sabotaging my own success, I now coach people to live a life they choose.   CONTACT METHOD Facebook –  https://www.facebook.com/johnkennycoaching LinkedIn –  https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-kenny-coaching Insta –  https://www.instagram.com/johnkennycoaching/ Twitter –  https://www.twitter.com/johnkennycoach} YouTube -  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHTj9x6Tlo7lcIJITyx-tgQ Clubhouse - @relationshipguy Hosted on Acast.
