In this episode, I talk with two of my best friends - Patrick and Christy Dux of Nashville, TN. Patrick and Christy were living and working in Las Vegas when their first marriages fell apart - long-term relationships that they both thought would last forever.

Little did these two co-workers realize, the pain they individually felt going through their divorces would be the magnet that brought them together to support each other.  As years went on, that mutual support evolved into the relationship and marriage they assumed they'd never have after divorce.

Henry The Gift of the Magi is an O. Henry short story in which a young couple are very much in love with each other but can barely afford their one-room apartment. For Christmas, they each make a sacrifice to purchase a gift for the other, with ironic results. The moral of the story is that physical possessions, however valuable they may be, are of little value in the grand scheme of things. The true unselfish love that the characters, Jim and Della, share is greater than their possessions. O. Henry ends the story by clarifying the metaphor between the characters in the story, Della and James (or Jim), and the Biblical Magi. The Gift of the Magi features O. Henry's characteristic twist ending and use of flowery diction.(Summary adapted from Wikipedia.org) We Cannot Know True Love Without God’s Guidance Household of Israel Temple of Jesus Christ “Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12: 29-31) This month’s theme will discuss love. The dictionary describes love as an emotion. We cannot serve God through emotion. Satan works through emotions all the time. We serve God through the heart. Love is therefore the fulfilling of the law. It is expressed or demonstrated through obedience to the law of God, and walking in the testimony of Jesus Christ.
