Penn State Football Won't Win The Big Ten In 2023 | Penn State 2023 Spring Game Reaction

from College Football with Sam · host Samuel Recker

The Blue team beat the White team 10-0 this past Saturday, and despite what you may think according to the score, Drew Allar was actually one of the highlights of the game. He showed his arm talent, throwing for over 200 yards, and he also showcased his ability to intelligently run the read option. The defense dominated the game and they outgunned all positions on offense outside of quarterback. Chop Robinson and Dani Dennis-Sutton on the defensive line were able to pressure the quarterback several times, and the offensive line had a rough outing when protecting the rush as well. I expect linebacker and defensive back to reload at Penn State, and the spring game proved that point. Manny Diaz is one of the best defensive coordinators in the country, and James Franklin has built a culture and process of reloading defensive talent. Wide receiver Dante Cephas is also still transferring to Penn State, so the receiver room should be much better in the fall. However, I am confident this team does not have the quarterback, offensive line, or overall depth and talent to beat Ohio State or Michigan this year. It is not because the Nittany Lions aren't great, in fact, they are near-Elite. It is because Michigan and Ohio State also improved compared to their 2022 counterparts and they have better trench play. The Buckeyes and Wolverines outclass this team at nearly every position and they return more production and experience. Penn State will have its wide-open shot in 2024.
