Deuxième émission consacrée au post-rock : l’explosion du genre dans les années 90 et ses multiples évolutions. À partir du milieu des années 90, le post-rock s’impose comme l’un des mouvements les plus créatifs de la musique alternative. Des groupes issus de différentes scènes musicales repoussent les frontières du rock et explorent de nouveaux territoires sonores. Des formations comme Mogwai, Tortoise, Labradford ou encore Stars of the Lid développent des univers où l’atmosphère et l’émotion prennent souvent le pas sur la structure traditionnelle du morceau. Le post-rock devient alors une musique de paysages sonores, capable d’être à la fois contemplative, minimaliste ou explosive. Certains groupes marquent profondément le genre par l’ampleur de leurs compositions. Godspeed You! Black Emperor crée des œuvres longues et cinématographiques comme Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven, tandis que Mono et Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra mêlent cordes et guitares dans des fresques sonores hypnotiques. D’autres formations comme Explosions in the Sky ou This Will Destroy You popularisent les crescendos émotionnels devenus emblématiques du style. Avec le temps, le post-rock se diversifie et donne naissance à plusieurs courants : un post-rock épique basé sur les montées progressives, un post-rock atmosphérique centré sur les textures et les ambiances, mais aussi des approches plus expérimentales mêlant jazz, électronique ou métal. Des groupes comme 65daysofstatic, Red Sparowes ou Russian Circles illustrent cette évolution permanente. Aujourd’hui encore, le post-rock reste un territoire musical ouvert et en constante transformation. Chaque groupe, chaque album, chaque composition devient un espace d’expérimentation où la technique et la texture sonore servent avant tout une quête d’émotion et de liberté créative.
