Have you ever had someone touch your hair without your permission? Ever had someone joke about how messy or rough your natural curls are? Have you been asked to shave, trim or remove a hairstyle because it was seen as unprofessional, messy, or unkept? You are not alone.  Recently California and New York become the first states to ban discrimination on natural hair that disproportionately affects people of color; especially black people. This includes bans on certain styles, such as Afros, braids, twists, cornrows and locs.
