Purpose Driven Work and Their Connection Within Sports w/ Carrie Bell, TEAM Mentor Program Manager for the Memphis Grizzlies

from Outnumbered with Kelli and Hollis · host Outnumbered Podcast

Carrie C. Bell fulfills many roles to include sister, friend, mentee,  mentor, dog mom and one she deems particularly important,  self-proclaimed, light beam. As the daughter of a single mother who  served in the military and the granddaughter of a community activist,  Carrie was raised to be a servant leader and knows first-hand the  importance of village. Carrie’s upbringing and her experience as a first  generation college graduate, has made her a believer that it truly  takes a village to raise a child. Through the ways in which village  showed up for her, particularly in her youth, she developed a deep  desire to support and pour into the youth who are set to be the next  generation of change makers and leaders. Professionally, she has served in the youth development, community  engagement and volunteerism fields for over ten years. Carrie currently  serves as the Manager of the TEAM Mentor Program with the Memphis  Grizzlies Foundation, utilizing the power of sports and relationship  building to positively impact the lives of youth. She has earned her  Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies from the University of  North Carolina at Greensboro and her Master of Science in Leadership  from Nova Southeastern University. In addition to her full time duties as leader of the Grizzlies TEAM  Mentor Program, Carrie also enjoys serving as a speaker for future  leaders of the next generation, with a special interest in connecting  with girls and young women, grant writing and consulting. She is  passionate about community service and spends a lot of her personal time  in service to others. For several years, she has been an active  volunteer with organizations such as LITE Memphis and the American  Express Leadership Academy Alumni Task Force. Carrie believes in the  power of people and is confident if we all lead with light and love, we  each can have stake in making this world better for everyone, leaving no  part of the village behind.
