Queers Hurting Queers

Many folx in the Queer community grow up experiencing some type of bullying. We know bullying is detrimental to our mental health and can affect our self-esteem. Bullying often comes from people who don't understand or are not accepting of the Queer community, but what happens when it comes directly from other folx in the Queer community. Listen in as my guest Jesse Escalante, a social worker & dancer, and I talk about our personal experiences with unwelcoming folx in the Queer community. We specifically speak about the Gay community and discuss how patriarchal, heteronormative, and toxic masculinity still has a strong grasp in many gay men's lives. This leads to exclusion and rejection of those who do not fit into the "archetype" many gay men worship.
