Alonely parts 1 to 3 Chris Priestman Some reflections on isolation and loneliness from older people who live in South Bristol, UK. This is from a project coordinated by the University of Bristol and the Southville Community Development Association. In 2016 a group of older volunteers, trained in community research, interviewed local older people who have been affected in one way or another. The interviews were transcribed, mixed with a few thoughts from the interviewers and then reshuffled and refined by dramaturge Adam Peck into the pieces you hear. They are performed here by the same group of volunteer community researchers. Act Of Listening WBOI Students from the University of Saint Francis teamed up with 89.1 WBOI to create Act Of Listening, a project funded through a grant from AARP. Part of the project’s goal was to alleviate loneliness and isolation in older, low-income adults. Over the 2018-19 school-year, students went out in teams of two and met a variety of older adults in Fort Wayne. One visit was recorded to bring these conversations to a wider audience on WBOI's airwaves and on-demand platforms.
