Falls are the leading cause of injury-related death among adults age 65 and older. Increased rate of 41% from 55.3 per 100,000 older adults in 20121 to 78.0 per 100,000 older adults in 2021. (CDC, 2021). Arizona’s Fall deaths per 100,000 is 86.1 with the number of deaths 1,005. Highest state is Wisconsin with Fall deaths per 100,000 being 176.5 with an average of 1,635. 50$ billion spent in non fatal fall injuries & 7.5 million spent in fatal falls Non fatal cost by insurance $29 billion is paid by Medicare $12 billion is paid by private or out-of-pocket payers $9 billion is paid by Medicaid
