Because we find happiness and bliss in outside things, nor have we analyzed what gives us bliss in outside things.  How can a conscious being have bliss, joy or happiness in material things? We are bliss personified.  As long as we are identified with some thing, we reflect our own happiness in that thing. When we withdraw from that thing, or it is withdrawn from us, we feel unhappiness.
