S3-E15: Why You're Not Getting What You Want In Your Relationships

As we continue my FINDING LOVE LATER IN LIFE Series, Relationship Coach and Generational Health Advocate Joseph Kemp brings to light the disparities he sees in what is expected of men versus what is expected of women in relationships. All too often, he’s observed men being blamed when things go wrong and, if things go right, it’s because of a man’s subservience to what a woman wants. In this episode, Joseph makes the case that in order for there to be generational health in relationships, men’s needs must be valued with equal importance and women must take responsibility for their actions. ABOUT JOSEPH KEMPJoseph Kemp has always been the voice of reason since about age 17. He was the person that was often sought when folks encountered challenges in life and needed a listening ear. But within the last couple of years, he felt more of a pull towards relationships and family. When he'd hear witty phrases about relationships like "happy wife, happy life" and "behind every great man is a great woman", he found himself challenging the absoluteness of the phrases. Don't both people have to be happy in order for relationship to work, he pondered. And what happens to single men who don't have a wife, can't they be great. The pondering turned into a desire to focus on healthy practices and giving people a different perspective, one where men and women take ownership of their own relationship, not putting that responsibility on the other.
