Sacred Contracts with Our Children Episode #19

As parents, we typically believe that our role is to teach, guide, and support our children so they can become adults that accomplish whatever it is your family values (success, education, happiness, contributing to the world, fame, status, etc.).  More often than not, we raise our children in ways that's similar to how we were raised---sometimes that's great and sometimes it's not so great. Many of us are walking around with unhealed trauma that shows up in the most inconvenient times, especially as we engage with our children! And even for those who had great childhoods--I often wonder about your sense of self, your confidence, ability to communicate and problem solved effectively, as well as any lingering guilt or shame.  Even with the best intentions, parenting can be incredibly challenging. And many folx use a punishment and reward model, thinking it's teaching their child to do the right thing when in fact, it isn't. Not at all.  There are three significant parts to what is called conscious parenting. (1) Understanding how the brain and body develops, (2) knowing and accepting who your child truly is, and (3) understanding the ins and outs of the sacred contract you entered upon even before this specific lifetime. There is a divine purpose in your relationship with your child/ren. God didn't choose you as the parent of your child.
