In 1927, he landed in America, at the age of 43, one of the most important protagonists in the history of the American mafia. He was a completely different criminal from previous or later Italian American gangsters. The underworld portrayed him as a true leader. Salvatore Maranzano was a cultured and ambitious character. We must consider him the last of the second wave bosses. At first glance, he certainly did not look like a mobster.
