Gautam Basu is the executive in residence of Aalto University and his current research are is Search funds and Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA). In the model, a searcher commits to finding one highly suitable acquisition target and after a green light from due diligence will start as the CEO and major owner of the company. A search fund or a pool of committed investors complement the new shareholders who purchase the previous owner(s) out. If done diligently, the model can produce superior returns for the invested money, without having to resort into a high risk as the acquired businesses are typically fairly stable cash flow positive companies.  Gautam Basu has founded True North Search, an accelerator focusing solely on entrepreneurship through acquisition. The community offers exclusive training, mentoring/coaching, best practices, access to capital, and world class expertise in search.
