Hello and welcome to the Powered By Rock podcast where I am going to be speaking with one of the coolest guys in the punk rock scene in Sam King of Get Dead and the newly created genre-blending punk/hip-hop project Codefendants today.  Get Dead has evolved from an acoustic punk rock band to a more uptempo sound over the last couple of albums sort of like layering some Rancid on top of Social Distortion, in my own opinion, but in the process making something totally new and incredibly hyperactive in a live setting. Over the last couple of years, Sam also got linked up with Ceschi (Chess-key) Ramos after helping to raise funds to release him from prison and the friendship turned into the new hip-hop/punk sounding style that is labeled “Crime Wave” to form the Codefendants with Fat Mike of NOFX rounding out the lineup. I am super pumped to talk to Sam today about all of this and more, because he is one of the single most interesting people in the punk scene today.
