Dan Morand - Founder and Executive Director of Urban Haven Project. Dan Morand is an accomplished social advocate, life transformation expert, counsellor, writer, humorist and urban street pastor. With over 35 years of experience working with addicts, troubled youth, post-incarcerated individuals and the homeless, Dan uses his unique sense of humour to tackle everyday life issues. He relates well with people, seeing beyond the situation to the core of the problem. Pastor Dan introduced the Overcomers Recovery Support Program to the folk on the streets in London over 5 years ago, a program that has now become the fastest-growing 12-step program on the streets in Canada! He has lived and worked from Vancouver BC to Gander NL and understands firsthand the unique issues that face our Canadian society. Pastor Dan believes that every person deserves a reasonable quality of life and he is excited to teach people how to live a more balanced and intentional life! His recent initiative, The Urban Haven Project opened over 3 years ago in a high-crime, generationally-marginalized area of London, ON called Soho.  Urban Haven offers an opportunity for dignity and hope for those who are struggling in a marginalized lifestyle through offering a daily meal program as well as a variety of services that included providing clothing and food to the poor, counseling, life skills and employability skills programs, art, social outings, and shelter program to those in need. The project is operated through private donations and championed by over 30 dedicated volunteers made up of various Christian denominations of retired nurses, teachers, police officers, social workers and other professionals!  They are housed in the historic Beth Emanuel Church in London, ON. Dan is married, a father to four and a grandfather to four and a street brother and father to many.Alice's Resturant by Arlo Guthrie:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m57gzA2JCcMStacy's Mom by Fountain's of Wayne:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZLfasMPOU4 Contact Us: [email protected] podcast was recorded on December 3, 2019.
