It was broadcast on Mutual from 3 July 1947 to 14 February 1948.Each episode opens with an entry from the ship's log, such as: "Log entry, the ketch Scarlet Queen, Philip Kearney, master. Signed, Philip Kearney, master." Arriving at an exotic port of call, the captain and first mate would go ashore and immediately run into trouble with local authorities, agents of rival merchants, or desperate women in need of rescue. After some investigation and at least one good fight they would solve the problem, get back on the ship and sail away, Kearney and Gallagher sharing a laugh and a drink at the wheel before the captain's closing log entryListen to our radio station Old Time Radio ht Voyage of the Oeverwal Voyage of the Oeverwal The year: 1530. Nigger of the Narcissus by Joseph Conrad (1857 - 1924) LibriVox This is the story of a voyage of a merchant sailing ship from Bombay to England, set in the very late 19th century. “It was a bad winter off the Cape that year.” From Wikipedia: “The novel is seen as an allegory about isolation and solidarity, the ship's company serving as a microcosm of a social group.” As to the title, one can only ask, “What WERE you thinking?” (Introduction by Tom Crawford)
